Advanced Pistol 2

Learn the skills you need to defend yourself and your family.  This class builds on and reviews what you learned in Advanced Pistol 1 and Includes the development of muscle memory, combat presentation, decision making while moving and shooting, quick reaction drills, and advanced defensive tactics..
Click here for a schedule of courses.

This course is taught by Lieutenant Dave Stoddard, a law enforcement officer of twenty years who teaches advanced pistol skills and defensive tactics to other offices.  It is intended for those who have completed a basic course and Advanced Pistol 1.  Students will build on what they have already learned while continuing to develop the muscle memory needed to succeed in a gun fight.  Most of this course will be on the range where students will practice drills with and without live ammunition.

Several different range activities will be utilized including combat presentation, combat shooting, quick reaction drills, advanced defensive tactics, and additional training in the skills taught in earlier courses.  Students will also have an opportunity to test their new skills in a friendly competition at the conclusion of the course.

Fees are non refundable.  A registration can be transfered to another class within one year or transferred to another person - if they qualify for this course.

Required Items:
  • Eye protection
  • Hearing protection
  • A billed hat - like a baseball cap
  • Properly functioning pistol.  22 to 45 APC is allowed, high velocity or magnum pistols are not allowed (these will damage our targets).  A limited number of pistols will be available for rent.  Contact us for details.
  • 200 rounds of ammunition for your pistol - reloaded ammunition is not allowed nor is magnum, +P, or +P+ ammunition (200 for each student)
  • Holster (hip only - in the waist band or external is fine), We will be drawing from holsters and this is a required item.  We also recommend a magazine holster, or pouch.
  • 2 magazines - we recommend 3.
  • Camping or other chair
  • A sack lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.
  • Sun Screen
  • Adequate clothing - loose fitting clothing around the neck is not recommended.  When a spent brass casing is ejected from semi automatic pistols, it can end up down your shirt.  It is hot and may cause pain and an embarrassing hot brass dance - this can also be unsafe if you are on the firing line.  Winter courses will be taught inside for the classroom portion, but outside for firing.  You should have the needed clothing to spend a couple of hours outside - snow/rain or shine.  We do not normally reschedule for bad weather - shooting in the snow or rain can be safe and fun if you, and your pistol, are properly prepared.

The use of firearms is an inherently risky activity and bodily harm, even death, can occur.  By signing up for this course, you are taking responsibility for your actions and any harm that may come to you or that you may cause to others.
