Idaho Enhanced Concealed Weapons Class

Covers safe  use and storage of firearms, basic marksmanship with pistol, and other topics required by the Idaho Enhanced Concealed Carry statute.
Click here for a schedule of courses.

This course is a great value.  It does include both portions of the classroom instruction (basic pistol and legal), as well as the live fire range activities.  A copy of your training certificate can also be used to apply for your Oregon permit if desired.

Fees are non refundable.  A registration can be transfered to another class within one year or transferred to another person.

Required Items:
  • Eye protection
  • Hearing protection
  • A billed hat - like a baseball cap
  • Properly functioning pistol (this can be shared with another classmate).  22 to 45 APC is allowed, high velocity or magnum pistols are not allowed (these will damage our targets).  A limited number of pistols will be available for rent.  Contact us for details.
  • 100 rounds of ammunition for your pistol - reloaded ammunition is not allowed nor is magnum, +P, or +P+ ammunition (100 for each student)
  • Holster (hip only), hard case, or range bag to carry firearm to and from the line.  We will not be drawing from holsters, but it is a safe way to carry your unloaded firearm.
  • Paper and pencil or pen for notes
  • Camping or other chair
  • A sack lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.
  • Adequate clothing - loose fitting clothing around the neck is not recommended.  When a spent brass casing is ejected from semi automatic pistols, it can end up down your shirt.  It is hot and may cause pain and an embarrassing hot brass dance - this can also be unsafe if you are on the firing line.  Winter courses will be taught inside for the classroom portion, but outside for firing.  You should have the needed clothing to spend a couple of hours outside - snow/rain or shine.  We do not normally reschedule for bad weather - shooting in the snow or rain can be safe and fun if you, and your pistol, are properly prepared.

The current list of states which recognize the Idaho Enhanced Concealed Carry Permit are listed on the Idaho State Police web site:  https://www.isp.idaho.gov/BCI/concealedWeapons.html.

The Idaho Code related to enhanced concealed carry is found here:
https://legislature.idaho.gov/statutesrules/idstat/Title18/T18CH33/SECT18-3302/  We strongly recommend all students read this statute.

The fees for applying for your permit vary by county.  The cost of this course does not include the fee for applying for your permit.

The use of firearms is an inherently risky activity and bodily harm, even death, can occur.  By signing up for this course, you are taking responsibility for your actions and any harm that may come to you or that you may cause to others.
