If you would like to help with a community event to promote sound understanding of the right to keep and bear arms along with an understanding of gun safety and basic firearms skills, this is your chance. Help us emphasis the importance of the right of self defense and the vital role the Second Amendment plays in our society. We need help with planning and on the day of the event. We also need trained and certified range safety officers and a few instructors to put on this event. Our plan is to train all who are willing to help plan and assist during the one day training event each year. Each year we will try to provide one instructor certification to volunteers, this year it will be pistol. Law enforcement officers are also welcome to assist, NRA training will not be required for them, but is still encouraged as it will give us more options for helping those who attend.
There will be minimal charges for materials and fees for NRA registration . Volunteers will need to pay for the materials and NRA registration needed for the certifications you desire. The materials cost is $20 for the range safety officer training and approximately $40 for the pistol instructor training. We need range safety officers and instructors to make this event work, but you do not need both certifications to participate.
There are additional credentialing fees with the NRA once you have completed the trainings. For both the Pistol Shooting Instructor and RSO ratings it will cost Non NRA members $90 and $40 for NRA members. This will need to be paid after the classes have been successfully completed. The credential fee will be required for those assisting as RSOs or instructors with the Citizen Training Day.

- Range Safety Officer (RSO) Training - June 19th, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Pistol Instructor Training - This requires that the instructor candidate has already taken the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course (Instructor Lead). It also requires the Basic Instructor Training if you have not had it within the last year. The dates and times are listed below:
- NRA Basic Shooting Pistol Course - June 26th, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Basic Instructor Training Part 1 - July 13th, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Basic Instructor Training Part 2 - July 15th, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Pistol Instructor Training - July 17th, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
